Chin FILLER

Dermal filler may be used in the chin area to address volume deficiency, structural underdevelopment, or post-traumatic asymmetry that contributes to imbalanced facial proportions or functional soft tissue concerns.

In appropriate clinical cases, chin augmentation can help:

  • Reestablish lower facial support where the chin is recessed or structurally weak

  • Improve anterior-posterior projection to support the jawline and surrounding tissues

  • Assist in softening the appearance of submental fullness (often perceived as a double chin) when caused by poor chin projection

  • Support facial symmetry where congenital or acquired asymmetry is present

Only a small volume of dermal filler may be needed to restore functional structure and facial balance. Treatment is provided following clinical consultation, and may be part of a broader plan to address volume loss, jawline imbalance, or age related anatomical change.

WHAT PROBLEMS CAN CHIN AUGMENTATION HELP?

Chin volume restoration using dermal filler may be clinically appropriate in the following situations:

  • Receding chin (retrognathia) – A recessed or under-projected chin can result from skeletal underdevelopment or jaw misalignment, leading to disproportion in the lower facial third. Filler may be used to improve structural projection and support.

  • Cleft chin (mental crease or dimple) – A prominent midline crease or dimple may be associated with underlying soft tissue depression or muscle imbalance. Filler can help re-establish a smoother contour when clinically indicated.

  • Jawline support – Where there is mandibular volume loss or soft tissue descent, chin filler can be used alongside jawline filler to restore structural continuity and balance in the lower face.

  • Sagging jowls – In some patients, chin augmentation may assist in supporting adjacent tissues and reducing the effect of soft tissue laxity along the jawline, particularly where there is early jowl formation.

All treatments are preceded by a full clinical consultation to assess suitability and therapeutic need.

HOW DOES CHIN ENHANCEMENT WORK?

In this procedure, dermal filler is injected into the chin area to restore volume and improve anterior projection. This may assist in cases of chin retrusion, volume loss, or facial imbalance resulting from congenital factors, age related changes, or trauma.

By restoring structure in the lower face, treatment can contribute to improved facial proportion and soft tissue support, particularly in relation to the jawline and surrounding areas.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most people need only one session, but if you’re not happy with the results, we can arrange a top-up.

Most appointments last around 30 minutes.

There is very little downtime, but you may see some minor bruising or swelling for up to two weeks.

In very rare cases, people don’t like the results of their fillers. Just like with dissolving lip filler, I can dissolve fillers in the chin with specific injections.
